BASILICA OF S. STEFANO
| S.Stephen Basilica is one of the most fascinating and interesting places to visit for any tourist in Bologna.
The complex, called "of the seven churches", includes buildings from different ages.
After a long series of works there are only 4 churches: church of Crucifix, church of Holy Sepulchre, Basilica of S.Vitale and Agricola and Church of Calvary. |
NEPTUNE FOUNTAIN
| The fountain of Neptune is situated in square Neptune, in the centre of Bologna between Palazzo Comunale and Palazzo Re Enzo.
It was built by Flemish sculptor know as Giambologna. It is an excellent example of the Bolognese renaissance and incarnates the God Neptune who rules the seas. |
PALAZZO COMUNALE
| The "Palazzo Comunale" shows oneself on Piazza Maggiore. It was built in 1287 and it includes several buildings.
In 1336 it became residence of the Anziani, the maximum magistracy of Government of the Common, today it is the president's house of the city. |
PALAZZO RE ENZO
| The Palazzo Re Enzo is located in the centre of Bologna, in one of the most beautiful squares in the world.
It hosts several different events: congresses, corporate conventions and incentive meetings, art exhibitions, entertainments and social events. |
SANTA MARIA DEI SERVI
| Santa Maria dei Servi is a gothic church with a beautiful quadriportico. It was built between the 14th and 16th centuries by the Servants of Mary.
The chapels are enriched with lots of Baroque elements. It contains many precious works of art, including Cimabue's "Madonna in trono".
The last restoration work took place in 1910. |
TORRE DEGLI ASINELLI
| The Torre degli Asinelli is the highest of all medieval towers, with a height of 97.20 m. Together with the tower named Garisenda, it is the symbol of the city.
It was built by one of the most influential families of the city, which would have given the name to the tower. It was status symbols for the family but it also had an important military function. |
FERRARI GALLERY
| The Ferrari Gallery was built in 1988 and officially inaugurated in 1990; this modern building houses exhibits of both racing and road cars.
The local government in collaboration with Ferrari S.p.a built the museum. You can see all the legendary Ferrari models in the Ferrari gallery in Maranello. |
MORANDI MUSEUM
| Morandi Museum hosts the richest collections of Giorgio Morandi's works, one of the greater Italian artists of the 900.
A very interesting room in the museum is dedicated at his life and his memories, run over again through the objects appertained to himself. | |
